Windansea had restaurants, groceries, and bars — but no coffee shop. Rosemonts Cafe exists because owner Abby Cleary noticed that gap and built a walkable neighborhood spot on La Jolla Boulevard to close it.

For the Windansea pocket, where walkable morning options were previously scarce, Rosemonts fills a long-absent role.

The cafe is independent and woman-owned, rooted in the residential stretch south of central La Jolla. Cleary has leaned on relationships with neighboring small businesses and the surrounding community to establish the shop, crediting local support as a defining factor in its growth.

The menu centers on craft sandwiches, baked goods, and specialty coffee. Signature drinks — a lavender oat milk latte, organic matcha, and turmeric golden milk — push beyond standard espresso-bar offerings. The lavender latte in particular has become a standout order.

Service is the other differentiator. Rosemonts operates around personalized attention, adjusting to individual preferences rather than running a high-volume counter operation. That approach separates it from chain competitors in the broader La Jolla corridor.
